Lorenzo Morelli

PhD Student
Bio:

Phd Student in Smart Industry, University of Pisa, based at Manufacturing Technologies Research Laboratory (MTRL) in the Department of Industrial Engineering (DIEF) of University of Firenze. I obtained the Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 from the University of Florence with thesis entitled “Implementation of Orthogonal to Oblique Cutting Transformation Approach ”, then in 2019 I took the Master degree in Mechanical Engineering with a thesis titled “Adaptive toolpath for 3 axis milling operations on thin-wall components”. In 2017 I was Cost Report Chief for the Formula Student Team, Firenze Race Team (FRT) at the University of Florence.

Interests:

Machining operations, Cutting Models, Finite Elements Methods, Toolpath Optimization.

Research Topic:

My research focuses on machining processes, and in details on milling operations. The core idea of my activity is to develop numerical models which aim at improving the accuracy and the productivity of the milling process by optimizing the toolpath. November 2019- Up to Now: – Analysis in literature about surface error generation in 3-axis milling operations – Modelling of the surface error generation in 3-axis milling operations – Experimental Test regarding machined surface in 3-axis milling operations
