Msc. in Biomedical Engineering; PhD Student in Smart Industry
Bio:

Born in Pisa. I received my bachelor's and master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa. During 2023 I optimized my master thesis work with a research fellow “development of application using the game engine Unity3D for surgical applications for Augmented Reality visualization”. I am now attending the PhD program in Smart Industry at the Department of Information Engineering. I am working at EndoCAS Center, a research lab at Cisanello Hospital in Pisa. My research field concerns the study of the Mixed Reality environment and the technologies behind this concept. In detail, I am focusing on Augmented Reality, a sub-category of Mixed Reality, and the use of Head-Mounted Displays devices within medical scenarios. More specifically, I am now focusing on studying the calibration of AR visors to perform tasks in peripersonal space.

Interests:

Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Unity, medical environment, software development

Research Topic:

My research is focus on the study of Head Mounted Displays for Augmented Reality in medical environment. I would like to achieve these goals: o Building a robust calibration system working on software and hardware solutions (Main milestone) – during 2024 Defining a registration method based on actual technologies – after phase 1 Development of DEMO applications – last phase of the project

Other Activities:

Won the Best Live DEMO Award during the 2023 IEEE MetroXRAINE Conference in Milan
