Gabriele Guzzo

PhD Student in Smart Industry; Msc.Energy Engineering
Bio:

Gabriele Guzzo received the M. Eng. degree in Energy Engineering with high distinction from the University of Florence, Italy, in 2020. He is currently working toward a joint Ph.D. degree with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Florence and the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Pisa. During his PhD, he spent 7 months as a visiting PhD student at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Melbourne, Australia. His research interests include fluid-dynamic modelling of gas networks, with a particular emphasis on investigating the transport of hydrogen and natural gas mixtures.

Interests:

Gas Network Modelling, Gas Pipeline Simulation and Optimization, Hydrogen Transportation and Distribution

Research Topic:

My research activities in 2024-25 will focus on developing optimization and control models for transient gas flow within gas networks, with a particular emphasis on incorporating hydrogen blending.

Other Activities:

• 2nd position in the 2024 PSIG (Pipeline Simulation Interest Group) scholarship, awarded to students conducting research in pipeline simulation, optimization, and/or control. • Finalist for the 2024 GERG (Gas European Research Group) Young Researchers’ award, highlighting postgraduate students' contributions to the advancement of renewable or low carbon gases.
